Thank you, everyone, for your prayers and positive thoughts for my sweet Hunter Schmunter. The blood work came back normal and the vet said that while this does not rule out the possibility of the seizures being due to ingestion of a toxin, it makes it less likely. This is good news since the blood work shows Hunter's organs are functioning properly.
Unfortunately, that leaves two possibilities - one is good/OK (epilepsy) compared with the other which is horrible (brain disease/tumor). The game plan is to keep her on the anti-seizure medication and keep a close eye on her to see if it helps or not. She is getting phenobarbital twice daily. She'll go back to the vet in a couple weeks to have more blood work done to check the level of medication in her system and ensure that it's not causing any negative effects.
Meantime, since both seizures have occurred late at night, we're keeping her in our bedroom at night. Previously she would start the night in our room but then wander and settle downstairs on the cool tile (which is where both seizures actually occurred). We're keeping her close by so that if she has another seizure we'll be woken by it right away and can log the time and duration of it and be sure she's safe when it happens.
So that's the latest. We're still really worried about her but we're doing everything we can at the moment and just need to wait and see what happens on the meds. Thanks again for all of your prayers.
