I've been afraid to post anything about this, for fear that I might jinx it. But...over the past 4-5 weeks we've been gradually weaning Cooper off of the Prevacid, hoping to discover that he's outgrown the reflux (since that's really the only way to find out other than performing invasive tests which could be inconclusive).
During our week in FL, Cooper was down to 1/4 of his daily dose and was doing well in spite of teething and battling a cold that turned into a respiratory infection/early stage pneumonia. Those are things that generally cause a flare-up with reflux even when they're on medication, so I take it as an excellent sign that Cooper didn't have reflux problems while sick and teething AND being on barely any medication.
As of today, he's been Prevacid-free for 9 days! He just finished a 10/11-day round of antibiotics for the respiratory infection/pneumonia on Sunday, and by Monday afternoon he had a runny nose again - new cold ;(. Still, in spite of the cold, he seems to be doing OK without the reflux meds so we're really happy about that.
Now that he's got over a week under his belt without the meds, we can start working on transitioning him to his room/crib. I'm going to wait until his cold is over but by the end of the week we should be ready to start that process which I expect will take 3-4 weeks, depending on how it goes. I'll post later with details about my plan for approaching the transition.

I'm so happy for Cooper (and you!) that he is now meds free concerning his Prevacid! This is such WONDERFUL news! We have tried weaning Jonathan from his meds, but no success as of yet though he is taking less than he was a couple of months ago. I'm trying to decrease his meds (Axid,.8mL/3x day) down to .6mL this week again since I'm home on vacation and can keep track better. Jonathan's weight fell from the 25% to the 10% at his last check up and I swear there's a connection between the meds and his weight. He eats a TON of food; his dr says it is bc he is crawling like a mad man, which may be true, but I still worry--it is part of the mom routine to do so, right? :) In any case, I'm so happy that Cooper is doing so well without his meds and seems to be much less/not plagued by AR anymore! He must feel so much better! Here's to hoping the sleeping follows the same lines of success for the whole Olsen family! Love the new photos, by the way--too cute!
Yes! Such a good feeling!
Super news. It's all about baby steps. (Pun intended).
I'm glad to hear it has gone well for Cooper. This gives me hope for Colton since we will probably be discussing this at his appt this week.... I'm a little nervous. I hope Cooper continues to do well without the meds!
