First a look of fear and confusion...
a bit of hesitation (pursed lips haha)...
perhaps a bit of disgust...(can't say I blame him - blah rice cereal mixed with formula - boring!)...
willingness to try again...
and finally...the need to reinsert the food into the mouth (after he tried spitting it out) LOL...
Today, day 2, he showed signs of catching on - but not totally. He thought it was funny today though so it was nice to see the fear and hesitation go away. I think it'll be easier when the highchair arrives this week too (supposed to arrive Tuesday) - he will be strapped into a comfy chair that's focused on eating time instead of the bumbo which he associates with playtime.
We're doing the cereal once per day for a few days and then we'll add a veggie (probably organic pureed peas) at which point he'll start to get the solids 2x/day. So far, he's not had any adverse reactions to the cereal which is a relief, especially considering he has reflux and solids can be a bit risky and problematic. Here's to hoping for smooth sailing - so far, so good!

It took Jr about a week to really "grasp" what was going on. With in two weeks there was a definite change in the amount coming back out as opposed to what was going in ;). Just wait till he figures out that he can hold the spoon - Jr's new thing is he feels the need to help - and it's HORRIBLY MESSY! ;) Aww the joys..
he looks so cute!!! he should love the peas...........Love, Mom
That is so adorable. Vi hates peas and beans and is ok with sweet potatoes. We're doing oatmeal this week. She is a huge gulper and the faster eater in daycare.
Mia was totally unimpressed with rice cereal. :o) When we moved on to oatmeal, she was much more interested.
Glad all is going well! How exciting! Jonathan's first vegetable was sweet potatoes and this is still his favorite of all! Solids helped Jonathan AR. Hope the weight of solids help Cooper's AR also!:)
