Formula full circle

Bob and I had to give a formula history to the new GI specialist we took Cooper to yesterday and we all had a good laugh. Here's our list/history:

1. Enfamil Lipil (for supplementation due to low blood sugar and anticipated BF milk supply issues)
2. Enfamil GentleEase (b/c at 4 weeks Cooper started projectile vomiting and docs wanted to see if it was from the formula or possibly due to some condition such as p.stenosis)
3. Similac Sensitive (b/c Cooper vomited curdled chunks while on the GentleEase)
4. Enfamil Nutramigen (Hypoallergenic formula b/c Cooper's colic was INSANE and doc thought it could be a milk protein allergy which this formula would address)
5. Similac Alimentum (b/c Cooper went on a hunger strike after a day on the Nutramigen - probably b/c of the awful smell/taste - but we were relieved to switch off it b/c it made his poops smell HORRENDOUS - Alimentum is Similac's hypoallergenic formula).
6. Enfamil AR (b/c Cooper's first GI doc (Dr.E) said there was no evidence of a milk protein allergy and wanted him on a thickened formula for his reflux)
7. Enfamil Lipil (b/c it is believed that the Enf.AR might have triggered Cooper's aspiration pneumonia and then choking and vomiting incidents the week he was home from the hospital -- Dr.E has since been fired!).

Cooper's new GI specialist, Dr.BH, who is WAY better than the previous one, took stool samples from Cooper's conveniently poopy diaper during his consultation yesterday to send off to the lab to test for milk protein allergy so we'll know once and for all if that is an issue with him. If it is an issue we'll be going back to Alimentum, but if not, we're hoping to keep him on the Enfamil Lipil since we have a stockpile of it here at the house b/c Bob had ordered a ton of it direct from Enfamil before Cooper and I got home from the hospital when he was born (Bob likes to be all efficient and prepared like that). It's awesome being able to order through Enfamil directly - you can set up scheduled deliveries and there's no charge for shipping - only problem is that you can't return it if you end up having to switch formulas - needless to say, we learned a valuable lesson about buying formula in bulk LOL.

OK, maybe I didn't learn well enough b/c I now have a small stockpile of Enfamil AR nursettes that we can't use. So, if anyone uses that kind and wants it for just the cost of shipping send me a comment with your email address and I'll gladly ship it out to you.

Anyway, it's kind of hard to believe Cooper has had 6 formula changes in just 4 months! ;0 Poor kid! Let's hope that means he'll appreciate variety as he gets older LOL.
